Karastan® Rug Cleaning

Axminster rugs are a type of machine woven or “power loomed” rug. The brand name most people associate with Axminster rugs is Karastan®. Woven from high quality wool, these rugs are durable and the dyes are color fast.

The older Karastan® rugs we see in this rug cleaning company usually have an oriental rug design.

Some people find it difficult to distinguish between a hand knotted oriental rug and a machine woven rug with an oriental design. When you look at the back of a machine woven rug with an “oriental” design you can see the fringe has been sewn or glued onto the end of the rug and the rows are very regular. The rows on a hand knotted rug are uneven and the fringe is a continuation of the rug warps.

Like many other types of area rug cleaning, Karastan® rug cleaning requires rug washing because the rugs are made primarily of wool.
