Our Standard Rug Cleaning Charges

Our standard rug cleaning charges include:

  • Pickup and delivery within the Upper Valley for orders that are $250 or more.
  • Dry soil removal – because sand and grit are the primary cause of rug wear.
  • Rug Washing
  • Guaranteed Odor Removal
  • Spot and Stain treatment – our best effort
  • No additional charge for very dirty rugs that require multiple washings to get them clean and odor free
  • Rug Pad washing to kill the odor-causing bacteria

We include all of this because we know our clients want their rugs to be clean, look clean and be free of odor.

Standard charges for oriental rug cleaning and area rug cleaning are by the square foot (sf). We arrive at a square foot measurement by multiplying the width times the length. A rug that is 4’ wide and 6’ long is 24 SF.

All  rugs except silk pile rugs are $5.25/SF

Silk Pile rugs are $6.25/SF

If you’re price shopping you want to make sure you’re comparing like kind and quality. Here is a checklist you can use to hold your rug cleaner accountable.

Above all you’ll want to make sure the dry soil (sand) is removed from your rug as part of the cleaning process. If it isn’t, you’re throwing money away. Don’t just take the cleaner’s word for it, ask how it’s done. Dry soil is the primary cause of rug wear. And your rug cleaner should also be able to guarantee the rug will be odor free.

Estimating rug size

If you don’t have a tape measure, look below for some suggestions on how to get a rough idea of the size of your rug.

A typical three-cushion sofa is 7’ long; a two-cushion sofa or love seat is 5’ long.

A typical recliner is 3’ to 3 ½’ wide.

A dining room table that sits 4 – 6 people is x 5’ long, one that sits 6 – 8 people is 6 ½’ long.

A typical queen or king size bed is about 7’ long.

Typical rug sizes are: 2’x3’, 3’x5’, 4’x6’, 5’x7’, 6’x8’, 7’x9’, 8’x10, 9’x12’

Estimating Rug Cleaning Costs

Here is an example of estimating the size and cost of cleaning your rug for budgetary purposes.

You can see your rug is about a foot longer – on both ends – than your three- cushion sofa. (A typical man’s shoe is about a foot long  +/- an inch or two.) You could then estimate the rug is about 9’ long. If it is 9’ long, and it doesn’t look square-ish, and it doesn’t look long – like a runner, it’s probably about 6-7’ wide.

Assuming that’s the case: 7’x9’ = 63 SF. 63 x $5.25/SF = $330.75

And that would qualify for our free pick-up and delivery service. We will make exact measurements of the rug and price the cleaning accordingly. We include fringe when measuring because we’re cleaning the fringe.
