Rug grows mold and survives!… but slightly blemished.
This rug came into the plant in 2014. One portion of the pile had been wet or damp for a few weeks. Not enough time develop dry rot but enough time for a thick layer of mold to develop and penetrate the pile yarns.
Prolonged exposure to moisture, such as that from a potted plant sitting on a rug, will cause dry rot and a hole will develop in the rug.
Here’s how it looked after we washed it.
You can see the mold caused some permanent discoloration on the lower right corner.
